Flat Classroom

MICDS participates with the FlatClassroom project designed by Julie Lindsay and Vicki Davis. It is part of the AP Stats Curriculum. This project helps students sharpen their network, information, and intercultural literacies. You can hear Amy Scheer discuss it here.

Frederick Douglass Speaker Series

Students learned about Frederick Douglass, oratory, and presentation skills.Presentations were ustreamed for students to view themselves later and so parents could watch. View presentations.


Hamlet Videos

Students created their own versions of Hamlet in Sophomore English.


Lord of the Flies Survivor Island

Student in English 9 played a research game on a wiki. They learned collaboration skills by playing on a wiki.


BRIC Nations WikiBook

Students in the BRIC nations class refined their information literacy skills as they created their own textbook. They made use of a number of Web 2.0 tools to create interactive elements to embed in their text.


VoiceThread Stereotypes

Students in English 11 explored sterotypes before and after 1960.

Presidential Politics Ads

Students created Ads for the various candidates during the election. Students learned valuable lessons about media and visual literacy while identifying key themes in the election.
